Friend!
I am sorry you didn't like the gameplay.
The problem is, the game never explains how to play.
You say right-click (move) is not important. But it is very important - because if you stand still - the enemies kill you very fast. You must KEEP MOVING to dodge and move away from incoming bullets. This is the core mechanics of this hardcore game, just like in MOBA games. In League of Legends or DOTA (both MOBA games) - you always must dodge enemy skill shots. If MOBA games are hard for you, ConEX will be even harder.
You say your best record is 14 level. I can reach that level without even getting hit once, I can finish the whole game (50 brutal levels) in less than 10 shots that hit me. Dodging in this game is ESSENTIAL and if you never dodge (use right-click frequently) to move away from bullets - you DIE FAST.

We are working on how to make our game explain the rules and how to play properly.

I really appreciate your honest feedback! It is very valuable to me.

@mpashanin ‍  By the way , the game operating is  not the key point for me.
I like roguelike & roguelite game , and I know in those games , when I died , I'll lost everything.  BUT , in your game , it's unacceptable for me.

Because in roguelike game , there are many random elements , and many things to explore.  But in your game , everything is repeating, I don't like it.

I see your point. You have not seen much of the game if you cannot beat level 14. There are many shops in the game (level 4, 7, 14, 20, 27, 34, 41 and 47) that sell random items, weapons and powerups. This makes every playthrough different. However you don't see that if you cannot reach far.

Have you ever played Starcraft, 大城小胖? ConEX is just like controlling terran marines in Starcraft. You move then shoot, move then shoot constantly. This is the core of my gameplay - to keep moving.

Hi 大城小胖!
We listened to your feedback and decided to remove permadeath altogether.
Now player can restart level at any time by pressing Z.
This way players would not have to endure replaying old levels again and again.

@mpashanin ‍ Hi , I've tried the new version.  and  I have a new idea about "restart level"
If player could  "restart from current level" , the game will lose some challenges.
I think a better way is that : 
set a save-point at every 10-levels,  Level 10, 20, 30, 40.
example :  if player dead at level 28 , he/she will restart from level 20.

Or change the level syetem,   from "1 to 50"  to  "1-1, 1-2 .... 2-1,2-2... 5-1, 5-2...5-10", I mean use big-Levels & sub-levels.
Players have to restart from the first sub-level of big-level.

"every 10-levels" --> "per-10-levels". 
Maybe 10 is too big , per-5-levels is a better one , I think.

One thing I found with new rules: you don't play like a coward anymore. Before - you had to survive at any cost - and that's why you had to play safe and cautious. But without permadeath I can play without worries and try to have fun instead of hiding in a corner like a coward.
what do you think about that?

If restart from the first level (with permadeath) ,  it will be too hard & too tired for players.
if restart from current level, it will be too easy.

So I think you should try to balance both.

If player is dead , restart from  a certain level ( 1st or else)  , but player could keep one item/skill ( as inheritance).

@大城小胖 ‍ I released a new Patch 1.2! Now the player has only ONE HP at the start! This way it is much more exciting and challenging!
It's a good middle ground between too hard and too easy.

@mpashanin ‍ I've tried. I like this design. BUT , I think many players  won't like.
It's too hard core.
And Could you supply an dialog for selecting the level that I've passed ?
And I hope you supply a time-counter-sytem for each level, then I could challenge "the shortest time of the level".
