Halfway between a Legions of Steel, XCOM and Space Hulk , here is the newest of the American studio Trese Brothers, with a turn-based RPG - strategy game, focusing on managing troops of galactic and apocalyptic warriors, somewhat retro style, under the name of Templar Battleforce.
To rough out the overall scenario, following an attack by Xenos(very hostile extraterrestrial creatures) on your ship, you find yourself isolated in the corridors taking a little fire. Your goal will be simple: to find your troops and regain power through the 45 missions composing Templar Battleforce . The first mission, as a tutorial, will allow you to easily discover the strategic bases and the rules of the game. Each mission will take between 20 and 40 minutes on average, linking the turns between your actions and those of your enemies, which you do not see unless they approach your field of vision. The map, composed as a grid, will appear as you progress.
With 7 difficulty choices for your games, Templar Battleforce will be able to adapt to all types of players, from the fine seasoned strategist to this type of title, to the novice, even if the overall difficulty remains high enough at times, and that learning by death will often be present if you do anything. So tactics are very important on the battlefield, even if it is not enough to win.
A very important part of the game will undoubtedly be your tactic in the evolution of the global skills of your troops. Named Requisition tree and different for each of your soldiers. For that means the game has a tree with a large set of Requisition, but also a choice in the evolutions of capacities of each Templar (these mechanical armatures directed by a human inside), that you visualize from the top, not forgetting the equipment of the latter, and their specific talents according to their classes. Each character will have his own offensive and defensive attributes, and your choice will allow you to win mission after mission ... or to die!
This phase of customizing your war machines will be an important key in your success, which is sometimes somewhat tedious, especially because of a presentation that is not very ergonomic and complex to really master at the start. You will have to play several games, deceive you, fail, but learn from your mistakes to create your own homogeneity, and especially your own way of playing in the game. Fortunately, Templar Battleforce is not just a game of displacement troops and shooting, even if this part is present and rather effective to handle, thanks to the nice gameplay. In-game, you will need strategic points , to take them to the enemies by force, allowing you to accumulate experience points usable in-game to bring in additional troops, with a greater or lesser cost depending on the class requested.
Each mission will be composed of several secondary objectives. These are renewed regularly, making it possible never to have two missions that are similar.
Complete and complex, Templar Battleforce will delight many players, and although the difficulty remains steady, it is quite accessible to novices.
A game where you will have real tactical power, the ability to personalize your troops aesthetically or deeper in their possibilities, a captivating and truly gripping game that risks obsessing you for hours ... and you will like it!
This is a very good game. The RPG aspect gives you total control on your men's skills and attributes.
The gameplay is smooth and the developpers are really listening to the players to improve and add features to the game.
If you are into Tactical game I strongly suggest it
